Who is Orange County Voice?
Orange County Voice (OCV) is a community development organization serving rural Orange County. OCV’s mission is to educate and build awareness about rural communities, and to protect farmland, natural resources and rural communities from random sprawl and unwanted municipal development.
OCV formed in 2008 to oppose an airport and a waste facility that threatened rural Orange County. We now advocate on important topics including zoning and land use, community services, economic development, and rural heritage.
OCV's work includes:
- Encouraging community and economic development that complements rural character, and enhances the quality of life for rural residents and visitors. We support farmland preservation and vibrant community-run businesses.
- Advocating for zoning and land use that enhances rural communities. We aggressively oppose unwanted industrial and municipal development, and the use of eminent domain in rural areas.
- Assuring sustainable environmental practices that protect the water, air and land resources. This includes documenting wetlands, habitats, and other important natural resources that may be overlooked or compromised, and seeking alternatives to harmful practices such as landfills and land application of sewage sludge.
- Building effective working relationships between rural communities, town neighbors, and elected officials. We engage citizen groups, communities and elected officials in win-win solutions that are socially, environmentally and fiscally responsible.
OCV a 501(C)(3) organization. We are non-partisan and non-denominational.
